PROFESSIONAL UPDATE

In January I was involved with a project I can’t really talk about on open social media, which is fun. Thankfully, this isn’t open social media - so I can. I was working for TEAM as a Technical Stage Manager on a project dubbed ‘Immersive Schools Project’ - the reason for the secrecy is that the children involved do not know it is a scripted durational immersive show taking place over five days, to them an obscure government department has showed up at their school to investigate a glowing purple tree that has erupted in their playground, and they are tasked with helping them out in researching it, placating the business people that come in to see if they can use the energy the tree produces and then subsequently protesting them when they decide to try and destroy the tree. One of those projects that’ll hopefully stick with people for a while. It will stick with me anyway. Directed and written primarily by Duncan Hallis with inputs from the cast and creative team, it was a show that not only required the four wonderful cast members to be in world, but myself, Duncan, and Ellie the designer to be playing characters the whole time as well - alongside the other TEAM colleagues that were on site and the videographer.

I think we worked for almost thirty five days straight on that project, which I’m sure various unions will be mad about, but the dedication and time that everyone put into the project was incredibly admirable, here are a selection of pictures I took from it. You can’t really share them though, sorry.

I am currently looking for work, so if you have any laying around or in the back of a cupboard somewhere let me know.

PERSONAL UPDATE

I’ve lost a bunch of weight. Which is neat, I guess. I always find that to be a fairly trite metric in which to measure anything by, but I am someone who’s incredibly numbers driven, tycoon simulator games on fortnite have caused me to lose more hours than any drug ever could. I’m going to keep trying to do that until the nice clothes at the vintage shops fit me better.

JANUARY’S POEM

Things I would do for you

I have been writing a lot of poetry recently as it’s been helping me be a normal human being. I joined a poetry app community. There is some beautiful poetry on there, and some of the worst things I've ever read. This poem was written as a response to some of the love poetry on there.

I would kidnap a child
and burn down a house
I’d torture a man
and have sex with a mouse
I'd sell all my stuff
and move into the sea
If it meant for a second
you’d think about me

JANUARY’S PICTURE

This was taken just outside St. Fagans after a walk there a few days ago.
